Tarry Touch To Triumph

Exquisite Touch looks the one to beat and she should make it three from three

The R400 000 Gr2 SA Fillies Nursery launches the Champions Day Place Accumulator and many hopes will rest on the shoulders of Sean Tarry.

Exquisite Touch – looks rather special

Sean Tarry has an extraordinary arsenal of 2yo fire-power again this term  and this abundance of riches has given the SA champion an enviable array of choices in terms of the programming and placement of his stock.

You may have read elsewhere that he has opted to go the route of taking a gamble on a sex allowance with his unbeaten Cloth Of Cloud who takes on the colts in the SA Nursery later on.

Tarry saddles a coupling in the fillies race which includes the very promising Waterford Stud-bred Var flyer, Exquisite Touch, who is unbeaten in two starts and tries 160m further on Saturday.

Exquisite Touch won the Listed Ruffian Stakes at her second start beating Seattle Singer rather easily by 1.30 lengths.

It is worth noting that Seattle Singer then came out a few weeks later on Classic Day and pushed the Silvano colt Janoobi all the way to the wire in the Gr3 Protea Stakes.

That was impressive from the Spies maiden and certainly underlines the strength of Exquisite Touch’s performance.

Her stable mate Myfunnyvalentine was backed on debut a fortnight ago and came home readily to beat Missibaba easily.

While there is little to underscore the strength of that form, the daughter of Captain Al, has done little wrong and gets the services of Anthony Delpech.

Mike De Kock’s Australian-bred Fursa finally put the action together in her fourth outing when a runaway maiden winner in a modest field at the Vaal.

The daughter of Hard Spun looks held on earlier form over shorter by Exquisite Touch though.

Working through the rest, Star Burst Galaxy, stands out as a potential improver after three runs.

The daughter of Var will be ridden by Anton Marcus and after winning on debut beating Seattle Singer, she has twice been walloped by Exquisite Touch and really does look held.

Alec Laird’s Arissa was a comfortable winner of her second start but was then beaten close on 10 lengths in the Gr3 Pretty Polly Stakes.

Paul Peter -

She looks a filly bred to go a little further than this.

Paul Peter’s Cyber Magic is still a maiden and did not run a bad race when 3 lengths back in the Pretty Polly.

David Nieuwenhuizen has a trio of runners and all three are yet to be exposed at feature level.

The winner amongst them is the Bezrin filly Electric Lady who  came to hand at her 3rd start when showing plenty of toe to beat Roman Evening 2.5 lengths.

Roy Magner’s Open Road shed her maiden over 1400m and looks like another who will go better over ground in time to come.

Paul Matchett’s maiden Pinot Var is held by Exquisite Touch on her second run but did improve on experience.

Pool Party is the second of the Roy Magner runners and won over the course and distance when beating Bubbling Brooke.

She looks capable of more improvement but is  not in the same league as the Tarry filly over this trip.

Secret Vision made her debut in the Pretty Polly Stakes and was not disgraced finishing 3.9 lengths off Cloth Of Cloud.

She ran on nicely late and with Andrew Fortune in the saddle could step up further.

Exquisite Touch looks the one to beat and she should make it three from three.
