The New York Racing Association originally tried to appeal to the person who goes to the racetrack once or twice a year, with the feeling being that the person who’s the hard-core player will watch the horseracing television broadcast anyway.
They have now conceded that was a huge mistake on their part.
That is because the fan who only comes to the track once or twice a year is not going to watch your show every day, and getting them to make that leap to open up a home-betting account is tough.
Are there parallels with the South African situation?
