Frankie’s Within A Heartbeat!

He is the most successful current jockey at Goodwood and at the Festival

Frankie Dettori is five winners short of his 3000th British winner after the three-time British Champion Jockey registered his first success of the 2016 Qatar Goodwood Festival aboard the Richard Hannon-trained Mehmas in the Group Two Qatar Richmond Stakes in the second race on day three of the meeting.

Mehmas’ neck success in the six-furlong contest provided Dettori with his 65th Qatar Goodwood Festival winner and his 192nd success at the track.

He is the most successful current jockey at Goodwood and at the Festival.

The Italian also finished a length and three-quarter second on the Ralph Beckett-trained Amabilis in the Dove 100 Colours EBF British Stallions Studs Fillies’ Maiden (4.20pm).

Dettori has four rides at the Sussex venue today, including the Roger Charlton-trained Ayrad, a length winner of a Listed contest at Sandown earlier this month, in the Group Three Betfred Glorious Stakes (2.00pm), a race the jockey won last year aboard Dubday, trained in Qatar by Jassim Al Ghazali.

Dettori also partners They Seek Him Here for Hugo Palmer in the Group Three Bonhams Thoroughbred Stakes (2.35pm). The three-year-old will have to defy a 342-day absence to take the mile contest and provide Dettori with his sixth victory in the race following the successes of Tamayaz (1995), Cape Cross (1997), Slip Stream (1999), Neebras (2011) and Archbishop (2012).

Dettori’s four rides today are:

Ayrad (Betfred Glorious Stakes, 2.00pm)

They Seek Him Here (Bonhams Thoroughbred Stakes, 2.35pm)

Monks Stand (Betfred Supports Jack Berry House Nursery Handicap, 4.20pm)

Al Neksh (Betfred Mobile Handicap, 5.30pm)

Dettori’s five rides on Saturday are:

Shraaoh (Qatar Handicap, 2.35pm)

Swiss Range (Qatar Nassau Stakes, 3.10pm)

Spring Loaded (Qatar Stewards’ Cup, 3.45pm)

Ghayyar (Qatar EBF Stallions Maiden, 4.20pm)

Bobby Wheeler (Qatar Handicap, 4.55pm)
