What age were July winners? What was their weight, who rode & trained them?
Most of the columns in the table below can be sorted in order. We put them in finishing order, to show the winners as a group – it makes for fun reading. High weights and ratings certainly aren’t the be-all and end-all.
Sort by Merit Rating (it show what they were coming into the race) and see the finishing positions of the highest rated horses.
Do the same for AR (the actual rating produced in the race) and see that the best don’t usually win – then again, this is a handicap (and let’s not get into the issue of statistics based on stake money in the July context…).
