BOOST FOR YOUNG SUMMERHILL STALLION - Stronghold
The outcome of last weekend's Gr.1 Champion Stakes at Newmarket provided a timely boost for the young Summerhill stallion Stronghold. The son of Danehill hails from the same family as Twice Over (Observatory), who went one better on his runner-up effort last year to win the end of season Gr.1 event in fine style. Retired to the KwaZulu-Natal stud in 2008, Stronghold is a grandson of Gr.1 Prix du Moulin winner All At Sea (Riverman), a half-sister to Twice Over's grandam Quandary (Blushing Groom).
Like Twice Over, Stronghold was bred and raced in the famous green and pink colours of Khalid Abdulla. He captured the Gr.3 Supreme Stakes at Goodwood and was rated Timeform's Champion Handicapper of 2006.
