Trainer Ormond Ferraris and his regular jockey Nooresh Juglall maintained their excellent form with a win in the topliner at the Vaal on Tuesday. Snowdon atoned for his recent narrow defeat in the Gr2 Senor Santa with a smooth win in the R115 000 Pinnacle Stakes run over 1200m.

Snowdon came in well weighted and was supported into the red. He also provided Pick Six punters with a ready made banker and while they may have sweated, he delivered the goods.

Snowdon was always up at the head of affairs in a quality seven horse field that included some speedy sorts.

Juglall rode a perfectly judged race as Mike De Kock’s Desert Sheik ran on strongly late under 4kg claimer, Franklin Maleking.

Snowdon held on by a short head in a time of 69,14 secs.

Yukon Gold stayed on for third, just ahead of the 33 to 1 shot Tiger Flash.

The horse who had conquered Snowdon in the Senor Santa Handicap, Merhee, drifted to 7 to 1 before the off and ran accordingly, eventually finishing  a weak fifth.

Snowdon was bred by Highlands Stud and is by Western Winter out of the speedy seven time winning National Assembly mare, Antonia’s Law.

A R700 000 National Yearling Sale graduate, he took his earnings to R943 875 with this eighth win from 23 starts. He has run 7 places.

Now that he has found his winning ways, this consistent gelding should be followed in similar events.
