Stallion celebrates first winner on eve of Million Dollar Race Sale

Elusive Fort

Elusive Fort registers his third Gr1 win beating top class Biarritz to win the 2007 Gr1 Horse Chestnut Stakes

Crack multiple Gr1 winner Elusive Fort got his stud career off to a flying start at Kenilworth on Saturday when his daughter Elusive Stars produced a great turn of foot to destroy her opposition to win the Maiden Juvenile Plate run over 1400m.

Ronnie Sheehan trained the Arc En Ciel Stud bred winner who was having only her second run, after a close up fourth over a sprint on debut.

The winner is out of the three time winning Special Preview mare, Lingfield, who raced for Bill Nelson and was trained by the late James Lightheart in her racing career.

Elusive Stars failed to sell at the Arc-En-Ciel dispersal and Craig Carey sold her to Ronnie Sheehan for just R5 000.

A brilliantly versatile son of Fort Wood who was trained by Geoff Woodruff in his racing career, Elusive Fort relocated  from Arc En Ciel to the ill fated Jet Master’s former home of Klipdrift Stud  earlier this year.

Elusive Fort is a magnificent athlete and was crowned Equus Champion Stayer of 2006.

He was a multiple Gr1 winner and racing enthusiasts will recall his sensational victories in the Gr1 Horse Chestnut Stakes (1600m), the Gr1 Daily News (2200m) and the Gr1 SA Derby (2450m).

A robust, tough and talented horse, he won from 1300m to 2450m and hails from the famous and  formidable  Argentinian E-family of Champions, Empress Club, Ecurie, Epoque etc.

The Elusive Fort Syndicate  late last year followed the lead of the Var syndicate and sponsored the Gr3 Cape Classic run at the start of the Cape Summer Of Champions.

Elusive Fort stands at Klipdrift Stud for a fee of R5000.

He has a total of 17 yearlings on the CTS March Yearling Sale and as one of a group of six second crop sires, he fits perfectly into that sought after ‘realm of the unknown.’  Those are the value for money gems.

Ad let’s not forget that the million dollar race will be run over the  rather akward  neither here nor there  trip of 1400m.

Perfect for an early Elusive Fort?

There are some well bred specimens amongst them. His lot numbers:

1/ 12 / 59 / 81 / 99 / 100 / 118 / 160 / 172 / 183 / 205 /  218 / 219 / 247  / 254 / 255 / 284.
