“It was a tough sale, aggregate was up 6.7% but the average was down by 2.7%. The median remained the same, with the highest price being half the top price of last year’s sale. We had the same number of horses catalogued but we sold 19 more at this sale. There were 25 not solds as opposed to 5 last year, the vendor buy backs numbered 17 as opposed to 50 at the sale last year. The average for today was R99 364, a big drop for 112 horses consigned today.
“Silvano was the leading sire by aggregate with R1 008 000, the top vendor was Highlands Farm Stud for R2,3million. The top 5 vendors were Highlands Farm Stud, Maine Chance, Wilgebosdrift, Mauritzfontein and Boland. The Top 5 sires were Silvano, Captain Al, Greys Inn, Kahal and Var. The best average was Dynasty and Trippi (1 each).
“The top buyers were Adriaan Van Vuuren (Misty Meadows), Howells Racing, Nick Jonsson, Dennis Drier and Paul Peter. A big thank you to Suncoast, our breeders, buyers and underbidders for their support and helping us to have a successful sale.”
