Hat-Trick For Tara

Genuine hat-trick

The Tara Laing yard have hit a sweet vein of form again and the Mayfair Speculators trainer enjoyed a great afternoon at Fairview on Friday – saddling a genuine hat-trick, including the R110 000 Glendore Sprint winner, Omega Onslaught.

The non black-type feature  run over 1000m attracted a field of nine quickies, but it was the underrated Jarryd Penny who showed the way – taking advantage of his 52kgs galloping weight and leading from gun to tape to score an easy win by 3 lengths in a nifty 55,97secs.

The favourite Vous Et Var never got a shout in and finished out of the money – the late chasing left to Vaughan Marshall raider Olympian, who shaded the former Paddy Kruyer-trained Anglet into third.

Bred by Klawervlei Stud, Omega Onslaught is a son of Jay Peg (Camden Park) out of the one-time winner Alpharhythm (Wolfhound).

He has won 5 races with 14 places from his 22 starts for stakes of R292 950.

Callan Murray is another man who has found good form – riding the two other Tara Laing winners.

He steered the talented Dynasty entire Trees Of Green to a deserved win in the MR 80 Handicap over a mile, and then rode a determined finish to get the Lonhro gelding Kimberley Club in a Novice 1200m – the feature win by Omega Onslaught sandwiched between the two.
