Met: Edict Of Nantes Scratched

De Kock's Cascapedia a possible supplementary

It’s official. After weeks of speculation and uncertainty, the Hong Kong – bound Edict Of Nantes has been scratched from the Sun Met to be run at Kenilworth on 27 January.

Edict Of Nantes – won’r race in SA again

The son of Count Dubois was recently sold out of the Mayfair Speculators stable and it was always likely that once payment had been made and suspensive conditions fulfilled that he would be taken out of the race.

Also out are Mike Azzie’s pair of Hat Puntano and Abashiri.

Hat Puntano finished well back in the L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate on Saturday, while Abashiri ran an improved again second in the London News Stakes at Turffontein on Sunday.

The final supplementary entry stage for the Cape flagship is at 11h00 on Monday 8 January, where Mike de Kock’s impressive Gr3 London News Stakes winner Casacapedia could make a late entrance. The daughter of High Chaparral made it 5 wins from 6 starts at Turffontein on Sunday and looks very progressive.

If the Irish-bred 4yo does land up in the Met mix, Anthony Delpech could face the poser of two very attractive prospective mounts – with Dean Kannemeyer’s Last Winter currently second favourite.

The final declaration deadline for the Met is at 11h00 on Monday 15 January.

Isn’t Delpech on a retainer with the Slacks? If so, will he not HAVE to ride Cascapedia?

I can’t remember who he was down to ride but after today I guess we know where he would like to be.
