Mrs O Strikes Gold

Oratorio in fine form

Mike Azzie ended Saturday’s Turffontein feature programme with a blow-out for punters when the unfancied Mrs O stormed home at any price to win the R150 000 non black-type Gold Rush Sprint and deliver a R2, 4 million Pick 6 payout.

On a tough afternoon for punters, Mrs O’s enthusiastic return to racing under Weichong Marwing after a 12 week break, also saw an amount of R1 990 000 carried over.

Expected to need the run and possibly lacking speed, Mrs O was dropped out as Tripod and Barrack Street made the pace, ahead of Down To Zero.

At the 200m it was anybody’s race as Mrs O unwound a thrilling late effort down the outside to catch Down To Zero and win going away by a neck in a time of 65,14 secs.

A R500 000 2016 Cape Premier Yearling Sale graduate, Mrs O was bred by Nadeson Park Stud and is a daughter of Oratorio (Danehill) out of the four-time winner Ginger Hill (Western Winter).

She is leased by top breeder Pippa Mickleburgh to Green Street Bloodstock (Pty) Ltd and has now won 3 races with 1 place from 8 starts for stakes of R274 375.
