Double For Murray

Another Captain Al strike

Callan Murray made it a quick feature double at Turffontein on Saturday when the smart Al Danza dug deep to withstand a strong late challenge from Sabina’s Dynasty to win the R250 000 Listed Jacaranda Handicap in good style.

While nothing could recapture the buzz around Murray’s win aboard Takingthepeace a half hour earlier, he rode a shrewd race to win a duel with the seasoned Piere Strydom here – something not easily accomplished.

Al Danza was relaxed in midfield as Seal My Fate and Return To Power led them for home.

The Geoff Woodruff trained 4yo moved up with a double handful at the 400m as Piere Strydom stalked on Sabiina’s Dynasty.

At the 200m the race was left to the pair but Al Danza always appeared to hold the advantage after getting first run on her opponent and she held on to win by a neck  in a time of 111,71 secs.

Return To Power stayed on but was six lengths away in third.

This was a first stakes win for the versatile and talented Al Danza.

Bred by Klawervlei Stud, Al Danza is a  4yo daughter of Captain Al (Al Mufti) out of six-time winner Jet Danza (Jet Master).

A R350 000 Cape Premier Yearling Sale graduate, she has won 4 races with 6 places from 16 starts for stakes of R467 375.
