Jackson – It’s A Girl!

See him at the Highlands Stallion Parade

Highlands Stud part of Ridgemont’s young sire Jackson has made a tremendous start with his first two-year-olds this season, and Dynasty’s triple Gr1 winning son was represented by a fourth first crop winner when his daughter Beat It won at Scottsville on Wednesday.

The first filly to win for her sire, the Duncan Howells trained Beat It, third at her previous outing, justified tote favouritism when downing older rivals in a maiden plate over 1200m at KZN’s mid-week meeting.

Bred by the Narrow Creek Stud, Beat It was a R200 000 buy from the 2017 National Yearling Sale.

Jackson’s previous first crop winners included feature race contender Mr Crumford as well as very impressive debut winner Bonaire, and the 2012 Gr1 Investec Cape Derby winner, who was unraced at two, looks a young stallion with a very bright future ahead of him.

A triple Gr1 winner, Jackson was one of the best horses of his generation, and defeated such champions as dual Horse Of The Year Variety Club, four time Gr1 winner Princess Victoria, and multiple champion sprinter, and leading young stallion, What A Winter.

From the same family as multiple champion sire Smart Strike, as well as Gr1 sires Sky Classic, Sail From Seattle and Strike Smartly, Jackson has now been represented by nine first crop runners who have won or finished in the money.

Jackson will be on show at the Highlands stallion parade on 25 May and has nine yearlings on offer at the 2018 KZN Yearling Sale.

Her first foal is a colt by Trippi named Wild Coast.
He was sold as a yearling in January at the CTS Cape sale for R2.5 million to John Freeman.
