Jockey van Niekerk pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Watch the final stages of the race:

The Inquiry Board found Jockey van Niekerk guilty and imposed a suspension from riding in races for a period of ten days.

Jockey van Niekerk has the right of appeal against both the finding and the penalty imposed.
