Highlands Leads The Way at 2yo Sale

Cape breeders Highlands part of Ridgemont produced the gem on Day 1 of the 2018 BSA National 2yo Sale, with their well-related Pathfork filly Scented Garden falling to the bid of Cape trainer Brett Crawford for R1.2 million.

The half-sister (# 37) to 7 winners – including the international stakes performer Sweet Sanette and Gr3 winners Dark Justice and speedball Franny – is bred on the same lines as multiple stakes winner Madame Speaker, and was the standout.

Next best price was #101, a Mauritzfontein bred Flower Alley colt, who sold for R450 000. He is a half-brother to three good winners out of a stakes winning half-sister to Oaks winner, Sweetie Pie and was purchased by Team G Racing.

Multiple Gr1 and Kentucky Derby winner producing Flower Alley was the leading sire on aggregate, with his 7 lots selling for R1 495 000 at an average of R212 857.

The sale concludes on Friday, starting at 11am
