Is There Life On NHA Board?

Time to storm the barricades?

Dr Marianne Thomson has written various letters to the NHA in the past few weeks, asking questions following the departure of former CEO Lyndon Barends.

Is there anybody out there?

Anybody still ALIVE on NHA BOARD ?

Did the KOORS take you all ?

Ed – Deon Meyer’s Die Koors where everybody dies off.

Did I miss something ?

Here is the last communication to the NHA

Was there a reply that I didn’t notice ?

Like an audit?

Was it in one of those obscure publications of Iqbal Survee ?

Are we having an audit done on what Lyndon spent?

Are we having a screening of all his appointees ?

Do we have no legal wise Members who can tell us whether it is ethical to own shares in a company that you are elected to oversee ?

Or does the tail wag the dog ?  Does Phumelela actually control the Jockey Club ? As they do our financials, that is not such a silly question.

Are we going to be told why Breeders pay R8 million for a R4 million Stud Book Job ?

Books, magic

Are we going to be told why so many people now not work in the StUD Book ?

Are we to know why the Keeper now sits  executively upstairs ?

I stood 18 minutes in the queue at the Post Office yesterday to receive 7 of my 2017 Passports .

Thank you so much. But why not send all together ?

So I stand longer in queues and that will keep me busy and silent ?

Talking Passports – why has the recognised international standard been deviated from?

Why is the DAM now before the SIRE ?

I know -“We will show them how it should be done !!”

Hello “Old Breeder “ – I agree with you on the Colour — of a horse – embarrassment!

I’m gettin’ mighty lonely out here.

Nobody talks to me.

You lot only whisper over the phone.

What are you guys scared of ? Spellcheck exists .

If you are happy with everything, come out and say so.

Take on the crooked trees.

Storm the barricades.

Surely they cannot just carry on as usual and ignore us? Or can they?

Or is everything in racing/breeding just fine?

Then tell me and I will slink away and do my farming.

Kind regards

Pointless commenting as you like the ANC and FB; censor what does not go down your throats from a party that’s not in line with your thinking; even if it’s true / fact!

Dr. Thomson you may well enjoy seniority in age and experience over me, but when it comes to asking questions of the NHA you are a novice. This is said with the utmost respect. As someone who has been asking questions of the NHA since Rob de Kocks days, followed by the Denzil Pillay, Colin Hall and Lyndon Barends days, I can tell you that each CEO/MD acted in exactly the same manner – they refused to engage on issues once things become sensitive. There is no doubt that all NHA boards during that period were complicit in refusing to answer legitimate questions from a member.

On one occasion I highlighted the reluctance of the Stipendiary Stewards to object against horses for transgressions in the running of races. I highlighted inconsistencies in objections raised by the different provincial Stipendiary boards, and due to this, differences in outcomes of objections. This was raised at an NHA AGM. Despite this being tabled for the meeting, the NHA could not answer my questions, and I was asked to correspond directly with the CEO ( Colin Hall in those days ), to resolve the issue. After complying with the request, and sending Hall my examples, I did receive a reply acknowledging my mail, and asking for time to study my examples. Hall stated that he was involving Hyde ( the one and only ), and that a meeting would be called between the three of us to discuss my concerns. After around two months, I enquired as to the status of the investigation. Hall replied that he had been attending to more pressing matters, and that he would revert back to me. Nothing further was ever received despite numerous requests to meet. As this formed part of the minutes of that years AGM, I listed this to be included on the following years AGM, and not surprisingly, it was left off the agenda. I have documented proof of all that I list here.

The reason for this response to your article is simple. I am highlighting the fact that dissenters are not catered for at the NHA. The high and mighty feel that they need not deign a response to members when the questions are difficult or the answers uncomfortable. Whilst I applaud your campaign to get answers from the NHA, history has shown that this organisation will ignore all your efforts to obtain transparency. Should Hyde be consistent in his dealings with troublesome members, you can expect to receive a notice shortly from him asking you to answer a charge of bringing racing into disrepute. Good luck with that, I beat three. All the best in your crusade, it is a worthy fight.

I’ve read the Doctor’s correspondence in this forum.

I just wish I could reply in the positive re the NHA.

    I just can’t

    I blame Trump for this….

Has there been a response to Dr. Thomson?
