Operating this afternoon

SA champion jockey Lyle Hewitson  was stood down from his rides at Scottsville today.

The Avontuur-sponsored rider will be operated on later this afternoon for kidney stones.

He is currently in second position on the SA national jockeys log with 160 winners.

We wish him a speedy recovery.

Spoke to Lyle’s Mom Sam at 17h12.
She says that Lyle has just come out of surgery – was starving – hasn’t eaten for a while – and very keen to go home!
He is hoping to be discharged later this evening.
He has a flight booked just after 07h00 in morning to Jhb.
Determined to take up his engagements at the Vaal tomorrow afternoon.
That’s from Mom, who also thanks SP readers for their concern and interest.

  3. Aropax says:

It’s eina for sure.. But should be back fairly soon once they removed.. Best of luck lyle ????

  4. Cecil says:

Thx for the update Mr Ed. This determination is what Champions are made off. No wonder this young man broke all records even as an Apprentice.

Unusually, I got lucky with the P6 @ Kenilworth yesterday only because Mr. Hewitson brought home my banker in the last, Dragon Power.

Even though it was a % win, the least I can do is to wish him a speedy recovery and remind him to drink plenty water.

    Thank you LH.

My goodness, well done to Mr Storey in Race6 @ The Vaal. Changing of the whip and all in addition to good balance.
