Barahin Confirms July Spot

Set to carry 53kgs in big race

Barahin made certain of his place in the forthcoming Vodacom July, and would have gained plenty of supporters with an impressive win from off the pace to win the Gr3 Jubilee Handicap at Turffontein on Sunday.

The race offers the winner a preferred entrance into the July and with Barahin already on the log in the high teens, this should seal the trip to Durban.

Banner Hill set a fair gallop, followed by Hero’s Honour, Arctica and The Dazzler. Well supported Shenanigans raced midfield.

After having  jumped a little awkwardly, Barahin was some was off the gallop.

Captain And Master came though to lead halfway down the home straight and looked to be going well.

But Barahin was powering though his field and  went on well to beat Shenanigans by a length in a time of 109,77 secs.

The consistent Captain And Master was away in third, with July entry The Dazzler beaten 1,50 lengths into fourth.

Bred by Wilgerbosdrift and Mauriitzfontein, Barahin is a son of Gimmethegreenlight (More Than Ready) and is out of the Silvano mare Mocha Special a one-time winner.

The winner was a R2.6 million buy from the 2017 National Yearling Sale.

He has won 4 races with 3 places from 7 starts for stakes of R1 189 875.

Barahin will carry 53kgs in the July, and has a good record at Greyville.
