Nine Races At Vaal Today

First off at 12h15

A Mike de Kock Australian-bred son of Snitzel makes a low-profile debut on the nine-race programme at the Vaal today.

The Shadwell-owned colt Alameery has his first run in the ninth race,a 1000m maiden plate.

Purchased from the draft of Mike and Kate Fleming’s Bhima Thoroughbreds at the 2018 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale for A$480,000, the colt (pictured above) is out of the High Yield mare Judged, a three time Gr3 winner of six races from 1200m to 1600m.

Alameery is a three-quarter-brother to the Gr3 placed Judicial Rock (Fastnet Rock), who is in foal to Newgate Farm’s dual Gr1-winning son of Snitzel, Russian Revolution.

Snitzel progeny have done well from limited chances here – with his nine winners from eleven runners including new Ascot stallion and Gr1 SA Derby winner Heavenly Blue, the juvenile Listed winner Traces, the stakes-placed Unannounced and multiple winners Marion Belle, Deerupt and Preoccupation.

Mathew de Kock said that Alameery was a temperamental sort, who had shown some inconsistent work. “We are starting him over 1000m to learn more about him. On the best he has shown us, he would have a chance. But he is temperamental.”

With Diego De Gouveia having been stood down, no jockey has yet been declared for Alameery.

Today’s Vaal meeting commences at 12h15 and the Bipot goes off in the second at 12h50.

The false rail is set at zero on the back straight and bend, becoming 2.5m at the 1000m with a 2.5m spur at the 600m mark. False rails will be 7m in from the 1600m outside rails to the pull up area.

  8. Rian says:

Did you hear the onevpunter at Ascot bet Japan to win
He either bet 250,000 or dtood to win that
    Great Bet

  9. Cameron James says:

Hi Cecil, I iike your P6 structure, just to add a bit of my thoughts:

    Race 4: Tricky

Race 5: Caba Da Cruz should win. Think he’s improving and the other horses have reached their ceiling

Race 6: Don’t leave out Seville Orange, wherever Blossom runs this horse will be close by. Personally I think the 3year old fillies crop is much stronger than the 4 year old fillies crop. Exacta Blossom x Seville Orange boxed is a nice value bet.

Race 7: Id definitely add in all of Secret Potion, Silver Rose (digs deep in a battle) and I like a little bit of White Lightening (sneaky feeling this horse will relish this trip)

Race 8: Banker Mashari, 3kg pull with Via Salari and with Marcus on won’t sit so far back. The faster they go the better. Really fancy him today.

Race 9: Will be boring here and include the field. FM62 handicaps hardly ever run to form.

    Regards,

    CJ

  10. Cameron James says:

Steffis Graft could be the lurker and value in thr last. If she’s in a galloping mood today they won’t pass her

  11. Cecil Pienaar says:

    Morning Cameron.

I think you spot on with races 5 and 8.
Looks we agree, race 4 to load a few, Gauteng horses. Race 9 to be safe the field

Race 6 after studying a bit, agree best to add a few. I Boxed a QT with the 4 three year Olds. Added Flichity by Farr cause of Hewitson and Secret potion

Charles? In Ntl we’ll love it if Laffs horse White lighting won it

Glad you mention Steffis Graft, Mr Spies is a master at Scottsville, nice double earlier this week, and Yeni up.

Have a great day, Good Luck and Thank You.

    Rgds
    Cecil

  12. CAMERON JAMES says:

So Cecil did we catch the P6 today? I took a small perm and won 5% of it….. Hope you did too.

  13. Cecil Pienaar says:

Well done Cameron. I ended up banking Charles and Caba da Cruz. This after spotting the 2 difficult races 4 and 9.

    That’s racing…

Small consolation with QT, with my fancy Flichity by Farr and the 3 yr Olds.

Enjoy, nice kitty for the July (must catch this one) We’ll stay in touch

  14. Rian says:

Nice one Cameron, you were right with your assesments
