Super Saturday – It’s A Big One!

'People's Perm' - having a dip on the big day?

Entries were received on Monday for the season’s grand finale, Super Saturday, which will be hosted at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Saturday 27 July.

The meeting is headlined by the Gr3 Gold Cup, with four Gr1 features, a Gr2 and two Gr3 races making it a fitting climax to a great season.

Vodacom Durban July runner-up Rainbow Bridge is one of sixteen entries for the R1 million Gr1 Champions Cup.

Supplementary entries close at 11h00 Monday 15 July

Declarations are due at 11h00 on Thursday 18 July.

The Sporting Post Durban July People’s Perm proved a massive success – even if only our smaller percentage perm gained a dividend.

The general siggestions include that the proceeds should be reinvested on the Super Saturday Pick 6 – but any subscriber who prefers to rather be paid out, or has another suggestion, should email williammilkov[email protected].

  1. Cecil Pienaar says:

    Wow, great fields

It’ll be interesting to see who rides Rainbow Bridge, guess Gavin is contracted to ride BBC

Sunshine Silk will win Gold Cup ????

  2. Would anybody have a 2nd hand vacuum cleaner that I could procure ?

  3. Cameron James says:

I have a feeling Mr De Kock won’t run Soqrat from that draw, so ante post players you have been warned. Lol.

  4. Cecil Pienaar says:

Good point Cameron. But MdK has this horse called Buffalo Bill Cody, and drawn nicely.

Eyes Wide Open and Twist of Fate, bad draws – again

I fancy Rainbow Bridge to win this one, might even be a Banker.

Frosted Gold in the Mercury Sprint ? With a decent draw and light weight. Interesting

Eden Roc, nice draw, could be banker again ?

  5. Peter Dembitzer says:

Am I alone in finding July day one very, very, very long yawn?
Nowhere in the world do they have the ridiculous time between races that occurred on Saturday.
Lastly the timing of the dancers and anthem at 4.20 was ludicrous.
By all means but must it be at the off of the July?

  6. Dave says:

Yes, perhaps a but drawn out to those of us that really just enjoy the racing. Don’t know why the national anthem must be sung (I don’t believe in the concept anyway) …..gaps between races too long as well.
Royal Ascot has I think 40 minutes between each race but that’s the UK. Perhaps this model works here and one must acknowledge the people on the different continents as being exactly that (different).
As for the timing – terrible – and the main event went off about 10 minutes late when there had been loads of time from the time the prior race had been run

  7. Deezo says:

Very true Peter. The July has lost its sparkle. The hype has just died. Back in the yonder years, one month before the July, we waited in anticipation and excitement for the big race. And when the big day came, everything stopped including weddings and anniversaries. The course would be electrifying. Nowadays the talk is all about Zodwa. There was no fancy dancers and over inflated tents for the rich and glamorous, just horse, fun and punt.

  8. Beatle says:

Agree with Dave – time between races far too long and to sing the national anthem while horses down at start – we had to watch people singing anthem while we should have seen the horses at the start – brass the singing PLEASE

  9. Asterix says:

I think the 40 minutes break is so that Interbet can continually reload Windows ‘95 on the Pentium 3 on which they run their platform. And the National Anthem is sung as a prayer that your bet might actually go through. I cannot account for the dancing.

  10. Dave says:

    🙂 🙂

  11. ANDREW BON says:

Champions Cup field may well cut up drastically. Soqrat may well run from draw 9 and lets not forget his run to Do it Again in the LQP.
Bookies may have it all wrong.

  12. WILLIAM MILKOVITCH says:

No Cedar Man for the Gold Cup ?
