Newsflash: Flamingo Park – Judge Erred

Punters still in dark

NHA CEO Vee Moodley has informed the Sporting Post that a press release will be issued on Tuesday regarding the Flamingo Park ninth race on Monday 12 August.

Confusion has reigned with punters puzzled at the triple dead-heat declared.

Apparently the Judge called the result correctly as 2 x 6 x DH 3 and 13 x 8 in 5th position. But he apparently erroneously captured a triple dead-heat in the system and the race went all-clear.

There is no clarity yet on the financial implications for the tote, punters or owners, trainers and jockeys involved.

No man I caught all the quartets, don’t be like that.

  4. Lou Syfer says:

If the fault lies with the NHA, then the rule is quite clear:

65.8 Should it be proved after the ALL CLEAR has been announced that there was an error in the placings declared by the judge, the ALL CLEAR result shall stand for betting purposes. However, the error shall be corrected in the records for statistical purposes. Where such correction affects stake money such money shall be returned to the RACING OPERATOR for re-distribution

The question now needs to be asked on whose authority was the result amended illegally? According to the rules all bets including the “incorrect” horse are winning bets and Phumelela are compelled to pay these.

Embarrassing, school boy error, can horse racing in this country not just run smoothly for just 1 month…?!?!?!?!?!

  6. Steve Reid says:

I am in agreement with Lou, Rule 65.8 in very clear. What should have happened is the pot in all bet types should have been cut to include the 5th place horse in payments. This is materially unfair on the individuals who had caught their bets without the 5th horse, as their dividends would be compromised. The rules are their for what I presume is a reason, and it will be very interesting to see who made the call to amend AFTER the all clear was given. If the call came from Phumelela, then we need to know who exactly is the tail and who is the dog in this sport. Furthermore, if it was a Phumelela call, the NHA should be obliged to open up an inquiry into this matter and fine them accordingly. Taking the fines handed out to the dope artists lately, Vee and his crew can easily fill in a seven figure hole. If the change had come on NHA instructions, the situation becomes even more interesting. There is no legal reason for the change to have been made, and the responsible individual should be disciplined. Why not make the responsible individual pay a substantial percentage of losses out of his own pocket, something similar to the current Public Prosecutor scenario being asked to pay a portion of costs due to her ineptitude.

The bottom line is all punters who have the 5th horse in their betting equations are entitled to a return on their investments and should demand payment.

That’s what we see lately last week races were cancelled after we’ve seen the race what’s that so we still gonna see more stories with the technologies we have and still experiencing such crazy acts

  9. Clinton Aube says:

Of left so many messages, ask to speak to management but still no one can help they say fill a claim form in. I caught the correct quartet at a top bet outlet but they cant pay me until tab can give a quartet payout and they refuse to do so, we put our bets on we lose our money we dont complain but when we win we would like to get paid out they way they ran 2x6x13and 3 that quartet should have paid under 30k and ive got 25% im jot willing to through away my money like that
