Son of Twice Over a popular Equus choice

Do It Again is a hot favourite with our readers to be crowned SA Horse Of The Year  in Johannesburg on Tuesday evening.

In an Equus poll running on the home page of the Sporting Post website, Do It Again has attracted 71% of the votes, ahead of Rainbow Bridge (12%) and Hawwaam (10%). The rest don’t feature.

The Justin Snaith-trained son of Twice Over swept the boards at last Thursday evening’s Cape Racing and Breeding Awards and is one of seventeen horses tied with a rating of 120 in the August 2019 edition of the Longines World’s Best Racehorse Rankings.

The joint rating includes Maximum Security who was infamously disqualified after winning the Kentucky Derby.

A battle for the ages in the Gr1 King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes saw the winning Enable make a significant jump in the ratings to a 126.

The rating was a three-point improvement that vaulted Enable to the second spot behind top-ranked Crystal Ocean, the five-year-old Enable defeated in the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth thriller.

Crystal Ocean was giving Enable 1.5kg in the Ascot thriller.

Waldgeist, who finished third behind the pair at Ascot, improved his rating from 122 to 124 and finds himself in joint sixth position.

The latest rankings reveal Stradivarius put up a career-best performance when extending his winning sequence to eight in the Goodwood Cup last week. The superstar stayer improved his rating to 121.

Don’t forget to have your say and vote your choice as SA Horse Of The Year!
