All Set For Summer

First entries due on 25 September

The Gr1 Gauteng Summer Cup is no longer on the Asian Pattern Committee’s hit list for a status downgrade – for the moment, anyway.

In June, NHRA CEO Vee Moodley warned that the status of the Golden Horse Sprint and the Summer Cup were under review and that the operators had been informed to take suitable action to lift the quality of the fields.

The R2 million Summer Cup is our first Gr1 of the season and is run over 2000m at Turffontein on 30 November.

Phumelela Racing Executive Patrick Davis told the Sporting Post that they have decided not to change the conditions away from that of a handicap.

“The stake remains at R2m and we will do all we can to encourage out of town participation to boost the race. We will continue to contribute towards the travel costs of raiders as has been the case in the past.”

V Moodley, Pls do not fiddle with the Golden Horse Sprint

This year a dual Graded winner, Sand and Sea couldn’t make the final field, just one example

You have other worries – just saying

    B B C will win the Summer Cup 😎
