Arc Weekend Sale

32 have won or placed at Listed / Group level

Having returned to ParisLongchamp Racecourse last year, the prestigious Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe weekend, which holds no less than eight Gr1 races, will take place on 5-6 October.

The best horses on the planet will compete in the blue-riband event where ENABLE will attempt the feat of winning for the third consecutive year.

Amongst her rivals is SOTTSASS, the winner of the Prix du Jockey Club, sold as a yearling at Arqana.

Taking place the day before the racing event of the year, The Arc Sale will be held at Saint-Cloud, close to Paris, from 18h30 on Saturday, October 5.

Once again, the catalogue brings together excellent performers that are able to shine at the highest level in France, such as graduate LILY’S CANDLE, the winner of the Gr1 Prix Marcel Boussac the day after the 2018 sale, as well as on European, American, Australian, United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Asian racecourses.

The 2019 catalogue is made up of 42 horses-in-training, of which 32 have won or been placed at Listed/Group level.

A total of 9 Wild Cards are still to come, destined for horses with recent eye-catching form. Last year, 85 per cent of the Wild Cards offered were sold.

A total of seven exciting two-year-old colts and fillies will go under the hammer, including:

– HELTER SKELTER (lot 12) finished runner-up in the Prix Roland de Chambure (L.) before easily taking a Listed event at Deauville on August 17 for Jean-Claude Rouget. With a rating of 103, he is one of the most promising juveniles in France, and is entered in the Gr1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere.

– Bated Breath’s daughter LES HOGUES is lot 29. With a current rating of 100, she won a Listed race before finishing fourth in the Prix la Rochette (Gr.3) on September 1 and is entered in the Gr1 Prix Marcel Boussac the day after the sale.

– Also trained by Jean-Claude Rouget SUJET LIBRE (lot 23) has a rating of 105. This son of Hurricane Cat won a Class 2 over 1400m before finishing third in the Gr3 Prix la Rochette over the same distance.

    I am confidentially informed that one of the wild cards on this sale has been identified as Port Elizabeth MR105 World Radar. The Sheiks are sharpening their pencils as we speak as this will be the highest rated 3yo filly on the sale and already private jets have been seen landing at PE airport….
