  1. Kazim Richards says:

This doesn’t sound clever at all.

  2. Ian says:

A huge problem with racing executives at Phumelela is that they do not seem to understand that by increasing the menu of bet options, they further dilute the pools for the more tried and tested alternatives. Inevitably most tote bets become uninteresting due to their low payouts.
For new comers to the game it makes the whole betting process too complicated and too confusing.
No wonder serious punters prefer to bet with the bookmakers where they can place sizeable bets and calculate their potential returns.
Numerous hair brained alternatives introduced by Phumelela in the past have already failed dismally – this will be yet another.
When are they going to learn to keep it simple and market effectively that which they already have.
Exciting payouts make for exciting punting.

  3. Kenny says:

Pls tell Phumelela to introduce two jackpots for local meetings daily, i.e. races 1-4 and 5-8. That’s four jackpots on local meetings on a Saturday and five when there are twelve races. This is for those of us who prefer to bet on races we can study properly.

  4. Rian says:

Its really depressing to watch this 365 day CIRCUS and even thinking about a comment to post has become an effort
Ian is 100 percent correct and look at the BLITZ its rocket about to explode
Punters dont need all these crap bets

  5. James Goodman says:

Just trying to squeeze as much as possible out of the punters. Bigger commission on exotics and seeding the pools with carryover money is not good business. These execs have no clue of their customer. Just look at the size of the pools.
Surely it is better to seed the local racing.

  6. Warren says:

Heard a romour that the Turffontein grooms planning to disrupt the meeting 2 November.. Apparently against their fellow foreign grooms..

Any truth to this, and if true what precautions is Phumelela taking to protect horses and patrons.
