First Foal For Triple Crown Winner

History for established stud

The first reported foal from the initial crop of 2018 Triple Crown winner Justify  was born on Friday 3 January at Amaroo Farm in Kentucky, owners Audley Farm reported on Saturday.

Bloodhorse and Coolmore report that the bay filly is the first foal out of the winning Exchange Rate mare Foreign Affair, a half sister to the Gr3 winning  Gr1 placed Scat Daddy filly So Perfect.

Audley stood America’s first Triple Crown winner, Sir Barton, after he swept the Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes, and Belmont Stakes in 1919.

“We were the first farm to stand a Triple Crown winner, so it’s pretty amazing, really, that we’re the farm that bred the first foal out of the most recent Triple Crown winner,” Audley’s Jamie McDiarmid said.

“She’s got great bone and plenty of leg, a quality first foal for the mare. We couldn’t be happier,” said McDiarmid.

With his first book including 41 Gr I winners, Justify bred the most GrI winning mares of any North American sire in 2019 and is posed to follow in fellow Triple Crown winner and Champion Freshman sire American Pharoah’s footsteps in 2022.
