Two well-bred geldings offered

The 2020 Hong Kong International Sale, to be held at Sha Tin Racecourse on Saturday 23 May has two well-bred SA flagbearers represented.

Our reigning champion sire Silvano and evergreen late champion producer Captain Al are the sires of the two SA lots of the fifteen offered.

The idea behind the Hong Kong International Sale is to provide Hong Kong Jockey Club Permit Holders the opportunity to purchase horses that are specifically selected to perform in Hong Kong.

The selected horses originated from Europe, Argentina, and South Africa.

Silvano has the first lot to enter the ring.

He is a gelding out of the unraced National Assembly mare Happy Ever After, a full-sister to Gr3 Strelitzia Stakes winner Happy Harriet.

He is a full-brother to Gr1 Allan Robertson Fillies Championship winner Happy Valentine and half-brother to Gr2 Senor Santa Handicap winner Happy Forever.

He was originally knocked down to the Hong Kong Jockey Club for R1,1 million at the 2018 Cape Premier Yearling Sale.

Captain Al gelding – #5 (Pic -HKJC)

Captain Al’s son is #5 and he was the fifth top lot sold at the 2018 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale when knocked down to the Hong Kong Jockey Club for R3,3 million.

He is out of East Cape Oaks winner Valor Red, a full-sister to four graded stakes winners, including the Gr1 Thekwini Stakes winner Nania and the Vogel Vlei Stud based Gr1 Mercury Sprint winner Red Ray.
