Snaith’s Tibouchina Exacta

Versatile galloper stretches them to breaking point

The class act in the field, Silvano’s Pride went all the way to win the R150 000 Gr2 Tibouchina Stakes at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Sunday. Her good showing may have convinced her connections to take their chances in the Gr1 Vodacom Durban July.

A real fighter and one of the best front-runners around, the Gr1 winning Silvano’s Pride always looked a lively proposition from her 1 draw and Keagan de Melo rode a well-judged race on the feisty filly.

Allowed to bowl along out front, Silvano’s Pride (25-4) was never really under pressure and stuck resolutely to her task. She underscored her versatility to beat her 20-1 well-bred stablemate Sleeping Single by 2,30 lengths in a time of 84,97 secs.

It was a bright turnaround for the high-riding Snaith team after the disappointment of Rio Querari and Trickster earlier in the day.

Nathan Kotzen’s consistent Master Keys (93-20) stayed on well for third, a further 1,60 lengths back.

Bred and raced by Anthony Peter, Silvano’s Pride is bred on the same cross as Saturday’s impressive winner Hawwaam – being a daughter of champion sire Silvano (Lomitas) out of the four-time winning Jet Master mare, Mary’s Pride.

She went through the ring at the Cape Premier Yearling Sale in 2017 but was bought back for R100 000 by her breeder.

Silvano’s Pride has won 5 races with 7 places from 15 starts for stakes of R1 249 875.
