July Day Pick 6 Can Reach R15 Million

Tote betting open today on 25 July extravaganza

Will history repeat itself? (Pic – Candiese Lenferna)

Tote betting on the Vodacom Durban July meeting opens in KwaZulu-Natal today.

This gives punters ample time to work out and place their bets before the big raceday on Saturday, 25 July.

There are also some massive tote carryovers on the day with R2 million already in the Pick 6 pool with the final pool expected to top R15 million.

There is also a quartet carryover of R1 million on the Vodacom Durban July its self with that pool expected to top R15 million.

There are a host of other carryovers on the day giving punters a chance to win big.

  • Race 2: BiPot Leg 1 – R100,000 carryover; likely pool R750,000.
  • Race 3: PA Leg 1 – likely pool R2 million.
  • Race 4: Pick 6 MEGAPOOL Leg 1 – R2 million carryover; likely pool R15 million.
  • Race 5: Jackpot ONE Leg 1 – R200,000 carryover; likely pool R2 million.
  • Race 7: Quartet MAXIPOOL – R1,000,000 carryover; likely pool R15 million.
  • Race 7: Jackpot TWO Leg 1 – likely pool R1 million.
  • Race 9: Trifecta – R100,000 carryover; likely pool R1 million.
  • Race 10: Jackpot Quickmix 2 – R25,000 carryover; likely pool R100,000.

Punters get a further opportunity on the Vodacom Durban July with the tote paying six places.

Punters are reminded that all tote and bookmaker outlets are now open to the public so that even those without on-line betting accounts will be able to place their bets.

With social distancing now the norm, punters are advised to get their bets on early to avoid long queues or to open a TABgold account that will afford the luxury of betting from home or on your mobile phone.

Hollywoodbets Greyville is off limits for the general public on raceday with only essential staff allowed on course but all the action can be viewed live on DStv channels 204 and 210 starting at 13h00 and Tellytrack on channel 239.

The Vodacom Durban July is off at 15h10.

Ed – the press release does not make reference to tote betting in Phumelela regions, which we believe opens on Tuesday 21 July.

  1. WILLIAM MILKOVITCH says:

Do I understand it correctly that NO Totes will be open by Friday or Saturday, for the Walk-In punters to have their R 50 bet on the July card?

Only telebet centres and online business, like we currently have ?

The article says : Punters are reminded that all tote and bookmaker outlets are now open to the pubic

  2. Gregory Phillips says:

Are the tabs going to be open

  3. Cecil Pienaar says:

  4. Pieta Louw. says:

  5. WILLIAM MILKOVITCH says:

Cecil, the 80’s… that was my hey-day.

In the 70’s, I was playing poker & using Sugus sweets, in their individual wrappers, as betting chips.

  9. Romesh Naidoo says:

Can someone please explain why the reserve runners/emergency acceptors don’t have allotted draws? If they do come into the race surely they can’t take the draw of the scratched horse…..

  10. Michael Jacobs says:

The pick 6 pool could easily top R30 million if all open bet exotics are taken on the tote, but that will not happen. Disastrous, why?

I for one will be playing all my bets online via Holywood. So will all my friends, either through Hollywood or World Sports Betting and Marshalls. I imagine that will be happening across the country. Friends are phoning me asking to place their bets and they’ll deposit money in my account. I would have preferred all my bets to go through the tote, but sadly the tote service and telebet is so inept and amateurish that I will bypass the tote and enjoy the ease and modern technology of Hollywood!

I suggest that the racing authorities fix up the tote telebet, online as well as store service ASAP if they want to save horse racing. Focus on the customer touchpoints and racing could be resurrected!

  11. Ernst Schlechter says:

    Pick 6: 7/5/12/9/4/16 x 1 x 3/4/1/5/8 x 4/1/2/17/13/14/6/5/9/18/12 x 13/7 x 5/4/8/10/3/1 for 10% = R396-00!

  12. G McDonald says:

Mjchael Jacobs, while you running a small bucket shop, have you told your friends who are wanting you to bet for them the rules.Do they know about catching the only R 30 mil P 6 ticket and only to be paid much much less.
Payout limits apply to Win, Place, Swinger, Exacta, Trifecta, Quartet, Double, Place Accumulator, Jackpot, Pick 3, Bipot, Pick 6, . Pay-outs will be limited to the lower of the pool limit and the limits as detailed above.

    Examples:

If Hollywoodbets lays a Jackpot that pays R970 000 to a R1 unit and a customer catches it once (100%), the full dividend will be paid.
If Hollywoodbets lays a customer 4 tickets totalling 5 full Pick 6s that pays R2 400 000 to a R1 unit, with a net pool of R4m, the pool limit will apply. The pool limit is R4m. This payout will be limited in terms of the preceding paragraphs which declare that the maximum amount that any single customer (directly or indirectly) may win from any bet or bets placed with Hollywoodbets on any one day, irrespective of the stakes in respect thereof or the terms of that bet, is subject always to a maximum of R1 000 000.00 (one million rand) per customer per day save in respect of a Pick 6 Open Bet in which event the maximum payout limit shall be R15 000 000.00 (fifteen million rand) per customer per day. This scenario shall be limited to a R4m payout.
If Hollywoodbets lays a customer a Pick 6 ticket where the pool was R16,5m and the payout was R16 500 000 to a R1 unit, then the payout limit shall be R15 000 000.
If Hollywoodbets lays a customer a Pick 6 ticket winning R1.2m and additional winning bets (not Pick 6s) totalling R500 000, then the payout limit shall be R1.2m only.
If Hollywoodbets lays a customer a Pick 6 ticket winning R700 000 and additional winning bets (not Pick 6s) totalling R500 000, then the payout limit shall be R1m only.
    If Hollywoodbets lays a customer tickets totalling 20% of a Pick 6 that pays R3 400 000 to a R1 unit, the payout will be R680 000 (being 20% of R3.4m).

  13. WILLIAM MILKOVITCH says:

We can scratch Golden Belle from running in the last leg of the July Day Pick 6…she racing today @ The Vaal

  14. WILLIAM MILKOVITCH says:

Mr. Schlechter, brave man with a 2 y/o race Banker. I don’t have the guts.

    Enjoy.

  15. Frankie says:

    Frankie Zackey…
I’m normally confused after reading some of the comments on SP,, but I’m now totally confused about the handicapping in Race 6 today at the Vaal about a filly called Dancewithadragon,, it’s been 1 YEAR since her maiden win,, the handicapper decided to drop her to a 60 MR from a 63 MR,,so we on the same page at this stage because of the 3 point MR drop …now this is where I’m really confused,, she runs unplaced finishing in 6th position off a 60 MR now the handicapper decides now on a 5 point MR penalty 😂 on what grounds ? is it because she beat a slightly higher MR filly home in the race albeit she ran unplaced ? or is it because she clocked the fastest time from the 400m to the finish ? Lol…

  16. Ernst Schlechter says:

Really won her two races well and a lot going for her. Think she is something special and not the strongest field this year. Agree, either banker or the field but I am taking the brave route – so do or die!!!

  17. Craig Davis says:

Hi Frankie, she was under sufferance and ran off a 68 last time. I’m guessing they used Jive Express as the line horse and decided she ran to a 65. Not sure I agree with them.

  18. Jay August says:

Hint #2. The trainer of a horse may request that a rating be revised upwards.

    Q. Why would a trainer request such an increase?

  19. Pieta Louw. says:

William& Cecil, ek dink ek het vandag Saterdag se P6 banker op die Vaal gesien…….

  20. Frankie says:

    Frankie Zackey…
Hi Craig one could argue on a few points,, but like I’ve always said in the past,, I love capitalising on errors..unless programme does not cater for the real battling horses in JHB,,then horses are always going to race under sufferrance but then use a appy that can claim the – 4kg
    Have good 1 Cheers…

  21. Cecil Pienaar says:

Hey Graham Hawkins, nice one. I grew up with racing and East Coast Radio. So nice hearing “Sportswave brought to you by Vodacom July and GC ”

The sports person even tipped, suggested Warren Kennedy on Rainbow Bridge for the win.

Good stuff reminding the public, ECR very popular in KZN

    July Fever

  22. Cecil Pienaar says:

    Pieta, ek stem saam….

I hope she runs on Sat day, maybe the way to go is 2 Pick 6s… Tarry’s 2 yr old as well.

Then a % P6 with no Bankers. William plays this way
Brave to bank last leg though ?

But where is the big upset, don’t think the main race !

  23. Frankie says:

Frankie Zackey…Jay just to let you know about Hint 2… I coached a few trainers about receiving MR points
