Another Stakes Strike For Global View

Global Drummer shows the way

Hollywoodbets-sponsored trainer Gavin Smith and stable jockey Stallone Naidoo enjoyed a great double at Fairview on Friday, including a smart victory for Global View’s talented two-year-old

son Global Drummer, who made it back to back feature race wins when he won the Listed Dahlia Plate.

Winner of the Listed East Cape Nursery on his previous start, the gelded Global Drummer (18-10) made it three wins from four starts when he scored a facile two and three quarter length win beating Cape raider Tarantino (22-10) by 2,75 lengths in a time of 70 secs.

It’s great to see the lesser acclaimed jockeys getting their chances – and they are frankly as good as the regular winners when they get the chances!

The Ascot Stud-bred Global Drummer, who is out of the Kilconnel mare Royal Drummer, was a R250 000 buy from last year’s Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale.

The winner took his stakes bank to R136 800 with 3 wins from 4 starts.

His sire Global View, who hails from the same family as breed shaping sire Storm Bird, has an excellent draft on offer at this year’s Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale, with his 21 lots on offer including a half-sister (# 93) to Gr1 Premier’s Champions Challenge winner Coral Fever, a colt (# 143) out of Gr1 Allan Robertson Fillies Championship runner-up Fairy Queen and a colt (# 408) from the immediate family of Gr1 Grand Prix de Paris/Canadian International winner, and sire, Erupt.
