KZN Tipsters’ Clean Sweep

Lenferna beats Hawkins and Goodman on debut

The Hollywoodbets Scottsville Saturday meeting was reduced to just six races and proved a challenge for the Sporting Post’s National Tipsters Panel, with some tough results on the afternoon.

In the circumstances it was hardly surprising to see the top three places filled by a trio of hometown wizards.

Graeme Hawkins made a storming start a week earlier, tipping 7 winners on the Speed Festival raceday at the same venue, when second to Winning Form.

The veteran again found himself on the mark on Saturday, but had to play second fiddle to GTV’s Warren Lenferna, who made a sparkling winning debut.

An upbeat Lenferna said he was thrilled to make his debut ‘in the top division’ a winning one.

“Thanks for creating the platform. It’s informative for the punting public and great fun for us – nothing like injecting some needle and keeping us on our toes,” he said.

Another first-timer, Winning Ways’ James Goodman, completed the hometown clean sweep.

The National Tipsters Panel has received positive feedback, with regular SP poster Steve Reid saying that it reminds him of days gone by ‘and when we had the semblance of a racing press in the newspapers’.

“The Star was my poison and I would religiously check out the myriad of tipsters selections that would span the length of a full page in a format very similar to what you have here,” he wrote.

The big tussle of the tipsters – professional and celebrity – will be held on Vodacom Durban July day.

We would like to welcome Avontuur as our sponsors.

The home of fine wines and fast horses will be providing a lovely prize for the winning pro and winning celebrity tipster on Vodacom Durban July day.
