Peter’s Pudding Powers Towards Cup

'On track for big one' - Paul Peter

Gauteng Summer Cup favourite Summer Pudding was put through her paces by her regular workrider at Turffontein on Friday morning and trainer Paul Peter has given her the all-clear with her target being the big race on 28 November.

The SA Horse Of The Year bids to halt Sean Tarry’s bid for a fourth straight victory in the 2000m handicap.

She is currently priced up as a 5-2 favourite for the race by SA’s leading bookmakers, Hollywoodbets. This price is subject to change.

The daughter of Silvano has been rested since her sensational Gr1 Woolavington 2000 victory on 28 June  at Hollywoodbets Greyville.

She has been back in work for seven weeks and her leading trainer put her through her paces over 1400m on the turf on Friday – her first grass work since her return from her holiday break at Mauritzfontein.

“Based on what I saw today, I’d say it’s all systems go for the Summer Cup. She moved well and was naturally blowing a bit at the pull-up. But that is to be expected. I am aiming to run her in a mile Pinnacle early in November and then straight into the Summer Cup. If anything should change, I will be in communication with the Sporting Post,” added the current national log-leader. He said that he had hoped to have had the gallop filmed but that Andrew Bon was away.

SA Triple Tiara star Summer Pudding is unbeaten in seven starts. She has won from 1400m to 2450m – all against her own sex.

She will likely run in a fillies and mares Pinnacle on Saturday 7 November and then takes on mixed company for the first time on 28 November.
