Trippi Gr1 Winner To Stand In KZN

Chimichuri Run will stand for a fee of R5 000 + Vat

Gr1 Gold Medallion Sprint winner Chimichuri Run, conditioned by multiple champion trainer Sean Tarry, will be returning to his KZN pedigree roots to stand at Bruce Le Roux and Tinus Gericke’s Blue Sky Thoroughbreds operation in Mooi River.

The Drakenstein-bred son of Trippi is the second to go to stud for his sire, out of Gr1 #kznbred Kahal mare, Spiced Gold – herself bred by Greenhill Farm.

With a desire for speed and precocity in South African horseracing, Chimichuri Run who started his multiple Group race career in the colours of Chris Van Niekerk and will complete it in the yellow and purple stars of the Hollywood Syndicate, is without a doubt a very desirable prospect for stud in South Africa.

The smashing chestnut colt, who sold as a winning juvenile in training at the Super Sale for R1 600 000, went on to a star-studded career which included 46 starts from age 2-5, with 8 Stakes victories and 20 places, 11 of those in stakes races.

He is Merit Rated at 126 and earned over R2,2-million in stakes.

Chimichuri Run’s race record and age prove his courage, tenacity and soundness, underlined by the fact that he won and placed in Gr1 company over from 1000m to a mile.

His dam won the Gr1 SA Fillies Classic at age 3, and finished third in the Gr1 Golden Slipper at 2. She is bred on the successful cross of Kahal and Complete Warrior, from the family of Main Warrior and Sea Siren (both Complete Warrior), whilst the 5th dam is the mighty Majorca.

Spiced Gold has proved herself at stud, with four runners and three winners to date.

Hi sire Trippi (End Sweep) needs little introduction; a winner of five Group races over 1200m-1800m, he was the Equus Champion sire of 2015/16 and has sired 80 stakes winners worldwide, including nine individual Gr1 winners. He is also the broodmare sire of Gr1 winner and producer in America, Liam’s Map.

Chimichuri Run’s eight wins include the Gr1 Tsogo Sun Sprint, Gr3 Umkhomazi Stakes, 1200m and Gr3 Spring Spree Stakes 1200m.

He placed 3rd in the Gr2 SA Nursery 1160m, 3rd in the Gr1 Gold Medallion 1200m, 2nd in the Gr3 Graham Beck Stakes 1400m, 2nd in the Gr2 Selangor Cup 1600m, 3rd in the Gr2 Diadem S. 1200m, 3rd in the Gr3 Man O’ War Sprint 1100m, 3rd in the Gr1 Computaform Sprint 1000m, 2nd in the Gr2 Diadem S. 1200m, 3rd in the Gr1 Computaform Sprint 1000m, 3rd in the Gr2 Spring Challenge 1450m and 3rd in the Gr1 Gold Challenge 1600m.
