Tipped by the seasoned handler on the official Vodacom Durban July panel during the build up week, the daughter of dual Gr1 winning Welwitchsia, who was also trained in the same silks from the same yard, Desert Miracle looks headed for Gr1 success since going round the turn and she should be an early candidate for the Cape Fillies Guineas.

Gavin Lerena rode a confident race in the Wilgerbosdrift silks as he rounded the field and charged away on the 19-10 favourite to win by 7,90 lengths in an unextended time of 84,81 secs.
A daughter of late champion Dynasty (Fort Wood), Desert Miracle was bred by Wilgerbosdrift and Mauritzfontein and is out of the seven time winning Oasis Dream mare, Welwitschia.
She has won 2 races with 2 places from 4 starts and stakes of R297 250 and could start next in the Gr1 Thekwini Stakes on Gold Cup day.
