The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa confirms that at an Inquiry held in Johannesburg on Thursday, 25 January 2024, Jockey Calvin Habib was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7.

The particulars being that as the rider of Judgement Day, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to District Twelve (K Matsunyane) when he shifted out at the 500m in Race 3 at Turffontein Racecourse on 23 December 2023.

Jockey Habib pleaded not guilty but was found guilty of the charge.

The Inquiry Board, after considering the mitigating factors presented, imposed a penalty of a suspension from riding in races for a period of seven (7) days.
