4Racing has announced that it plans to schedule an additional six race meetings during August across its two regions as follows :-
- Tuesday 9 August – Turffontein Standside
- Thursday 11 August – Vaal Classic
- Friday 12 August – Fairview Polytrack
- Tuesday 16 August – Turffontein Inside
- Friday 19 August – Fairview Polytrack
- Tuesday 23 August – Vaal Main Track
In doing a reforecast of stakes for the financial year March 2022 to February 2023, 4Racing has projected an underspend of its originally allocated stakes budget – due to a combination of weather enforced abandoned races / race meetings and the replacement of better quality races carrying higher stakes (that failed to attract sufficient runners) with lower quality races carrying lower stakes.
When the original fixture list for 2022 was published at the end of last year, there was a necessary reduction in the number of 4Racing fixtures due to the decline in the horse population. This was achieved by getting rid of most double header Saturdays (in favour of stand-alone meetings) as well as a two and half week break from racing during August on the Highveld, Western Cape and Eastern Cape.
With signs of a reversal in the horse population downward trend in both regions, and the forecast stakes savings for the year, 4Racing has made the decision to fill some of the blank days in August, thereby providing additional opportunities for all stakeholders.
Each of these added race meetings will be aimed predominantly at the lower rates horses in each region (in line with the demands of the horse population) – with stakes set at R60,000 per race.
The updated National Fixture List for August as well as race programmes for these race meetings will be released in due course.

The way you run channel 240 is so embarrassing. How do staff members keep their jobs!! How difficult is it to sort out your sound. Very sad state of affairs, hang your heads in shame! What a way to chase customers away. 4Racing, onwards and downwards!!!
Hi Sean
Plse provide some more detail – approx time etc – which medium – streaming / Dstv – so that we can pass on to Racing 240.
Channel 240 on the DSTV bouquet Mr Editor, especially today (Wednesday). Very poor sound, intermittent frozen picture, loss of sound continuously!
Thanks Michael
And the non stop cacophony they call “music”. They seem not to read or be aware of the numerous complaints.
Channel 240 on DSTV bouquet. The commentary often stops before or in a race amongst other things. Surely, Mr Editor they can’t play dumb!
POOR POOR showing…
#1) sound quality
#2) hopeless JUMPING around
#3) continual omission of further “info of exotics” AFTER showing of win, place, swinger, exacta dividends….IRRITATING…!!!
#4) horrible in- between music
#5) deafening silence on occasion.
Suggestion…keep an ongoing tab of P/A, Jackpots 1 & 2 & 3 as well as Pick 6 on screen during SA racing slot…
