If you’re going to break a record set by a super-sire, then you may as well do it in headline fashion!
That’s exactly what Champion US Sire Into Mischief (Harlan’s Holiday ex Leslie’s Lady, by Tricky Creek) has done, reports bloodhorse.com.
With his magnificent son Authentic already retired to join him at Spendthrift Farm in Kentucky for the 2021 breeding season, Into Mischief is the sire of Life Is Good.
Trained by Bob Baffert, the 3YO colt bolted home at his first start to score by just under 10-lengths at Del Mar, his US$34,000 pay day taking Into Mischief to a smidgen off US$20 million seasonal progeny earnings and eclipsing the previous record of US$19,983,173 formerly held by Tapit.
Ned Toffey, Spendthrift’s general manager paid tribute to the former record saying, “Tabit is a wonderful sire, so to eclipse his record is something special. To have these kinds of numbers, you have to be consistent and you have to be brilliant! Into Mischief just gets one good runner after another.”
All but certain to eclipse the US$20 million barrier, heir to the Storm Cat line Into Mischief leads the US sure table on every metric, including a very high 11% black-type winners to runners across all crops with runners.
