Mauritius Racing Resumes On Saturday

GRA pressures operator to proceed

After a series of bizarre delays, the Mauritius horseracing season is finally set to get underway at the Champ de Mars on Saturday.

The Sporting Post has learnt that the Gambling Regulatory Authority has urged the MTC Sports and Leisure Ltd (MTCSL), a public company and wholly-owned subsidiary of the MTC, to accept the non-negotiable conditions attached to the 2022 Horseracing Operator’s Licence and to pay the costs thereof by no later than noon on Wednesday 8 June.

In a statement issued today, the MTCSL said that in the best interests of the sport, the costs will be paid and that horseracing would resume on Saturday 11 June 2022.

Full details will follow in the course of this week.
