Michael Rode This Boat Before!

First leg of the Bipot is a minefield

Lifelong racing fan and regular SP poster Michael Jacobs has analysed the Hollywoodbets Greyville card for Saturday and provided his thoughts to help fellow players catch a World Pool – or even a share of the projected R5 million Pick 6.

Netta could be a factor (Pic – JC Photos)

Race 1 Juvenile Plate 1200m

Lightly raced 2yr olds of which 4 have won. I feel that Waterberry Lane won well last time – albeit on the all weather. Tricky and anything can improve

Race 2 MR 102 Handicap (Open)

First leg of the Bipot is a minefield. A high-rated handicap, but average handicappers participating. Expect an upset. A few horses entered for bigger things next week. No selections

Race 3 FM 94 Handicap F & M 1400m

6 3yr old fillies taking on 6 older females, the highest rated 3yr old Hugs Accepted (96-59kg)  vs the highest rated older horse Point of Sale (95-60.5kg). Purple Moon’s Up should still be under the handicapper’s radar, although Hugs Accepted has run against one of the best! The improving 3yr olds can fight this out

Race 4 FM 78 Handicap F & M 2000m

Another competitive fillies handicap, mediocre field and nothing stands out. Wide open event and an upset is possible. Flower Of Saigon has a big chance with Van Niekerk up. Pinch Me is still lightly raced as is Top Me Up Holly

Race 5 Lonsdale Stirrup Cup Handicap 2400m

A wide open staying handicap, although Silver Host looks the class horse. Holy Warrior and CatchafallingStar can turn the tables on Silver Host at the weights. Matterhorn ran a  great race against She’s a Keeper, one to watch.

Race 6 Woolavington Filles Grade 1 2000m

A small but competitive field, although War Of Athena stands out by a country mile. Netta is proven over the distance and won impressively last time, and Princess Calla ran well in Met.

Race 7 Daily News Grade 1 2000m

A very competitive Renewal, a few with chances. Kommetdieding is  unexposed at Grade 1 level, but looks promising. Jockeyship is key. Linebacker is the proven Gr1 performer, but has not beaten anything of note. The 6 Gauteng challengers makes this one very interesting . Kommetdieding to show his true class!

Race 8 MR 80 Handicap (Open) 1400m

A very competitive handicap, big field and wide open. Anything can win here. Chatterton’s Keeper gets a good draw  this time and can win this. The well drawn horses have to take their chances in this competitive race.

Race 9 MR 68 Handicap  (Open) 1200m

A weak MR 68 handicap to end the day, nothing stands out. Wide open event and an upset is likely. Antiguous has been poorly drawn in 7 of his last 10 runs, can improve here.
