Orffer Gets Ten Days For Interference

Has right of appeal against penalty imposed

The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa confirms that at an Inquiry held in Cape Town, on Wednesday, 15 January 2025, Jockey Corne Orffer was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7.

The particulars being that whilst riding MONTIEN, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to SNOW PILOT in the closing stages of Race 7 at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on 4 January 2025.

Jockey Corne Orffer pleaded guilty and was found guilty of the charge.

The Inquiry Board, after considering the aggravating and mitigating factors presented as well as Jockey Orffer’s riding record, imposed a suspension from riding in races for a period of ten (10) days.

Jockey Orffer was given the Right of Appeal against the penalty imposed.
