Philasande And Apache Son In Spotlight

First due off @ 12h30

Today’s local racemeeting takes place at the Vaal Racecourse with an eight-race programme carded for the afternoon.

The first is due off at 12h30 and the lucky last is set for 16h40.

Trainer Tyrone Zackey sends out Apache Son in Race 4 and he is the best bet on the programme.

He should have finished closer to the winner last time as he hung outwards in the closing stages.

He has been gelded since that outing which may have done the trick. The son of The Apache will love the rise to 1700m.

Jockey Philasande Mxoli retains the ride. Apache Son’s only career win has been under Mxoli and if keeping on a straight line he should return to winning ways.

Purpleninjaturtle from the Weichong Marwing stable takes his place in Race 7.

He showed good guts when winning his last start over 1160m at Turffontein.

He rallied late and got up where it matters most. The son of Time Thief would have come on from the run.

He meets similar company this afternoon and may find himself in the winner’s enclosure once again.
