There should be an interview with 3 types of punters

    30 – 40 yr
    40 – 50 yr
    50-60yr

This will give you an indication of where racing stands. The guest on this show is a passionate punter but talks of things that the younger player will never adapt to.

    1. Editor says:

With those age categories, Cecil, Neill, George, William, Frankie don’t qualify then, Vinny?

  2. Neill De Bruyn says:

The more things change the more it stays the same mr ed!

  3. Cecil Pienaar says:

62 years young this coming St Patrick’s day

Where is the 60+ category Vinny

Correct call by GC, Mr Ed , it’s raining again !

  4. George McDonald says:

Mr. Ed almost had a heart attack when read he had been in game since 1957
No Mr. Ed it is 1974

  5. George McDonald says:

    Okay 1947 should be 1974
    And had misprint of 1957
    It happens

  6. Vinny Regnath says:

To get a good insight into thoughts from different age groups you need punters from those age groups. How do you get to understand what the modern punter wants if you only hear from the older punters. I think it’s one of the reasons racing is so backward. Should have something like a panel discussion around the things punters are looking for. The discussion should include trainers and jockeys. Would be a good informative discussion

  7. Roy Sukhdev says:

    Valid point.

Take the initiative if YOU want to do achieve something.

That older punter took the initiative..😂

Complaining does not achieve much. Be proactive to improve our racing.👈👌🏿

  8. Sherwin Naidoo says:

As a 40 something, 3rd generation punter, I thought Mr. Sukhdev was spot on. Issues like communication, transparency, racecourse/tote experience and punter recognition will always be important to any age group.

  9. WILLIAM MILKOVITCH says:

Punters also want the new Tab4racing website to be working…right now

    1. Editor says:

TAB site is down, apparently William
No media release / statement received from 4Racing.
      Regards

  11. WILLIAM MILKOVITCH says:

Yes, I know that,Sir. Use the old website.’

    I just did that

    1. Editor says:

Heard that is route to go, thanks William

  12. WILLIAM MILKOVITCH says:

This is my media release, lol

  13. Neill De Bruyn says:

Only listened to the interview with Roy Sukhdev over the weekend. Seasoned punter, no doubt about that.
Horse racing has a niche in the world of gambling and together with its entertaininng aspect (sportswise) it won’t ever disappear.
Attracting new punters – well if one thinks about the HWB July is obviously the right occasion – it’s the pinnacle of SA racing – all glitter and glory.
So his suggestion of rewarding punters for example with a ticket to the July based on a loyalty program, makes sense.
Or the oldest promo in the book – buy a ticket, get one free – and bring along a buddy.
The July’s a money spinner for GC though entry wise, so there won’t be much enthusiasm for that.kind of thing. .

    .

  14. Vinny Regnath says:

Well said Mr Sukhdev, you are 100% correct in your points. My point is the operator will never look to have a discussion with a panel to hear what is required because they to afraid of what their short comings are. Racing is not an easy fix, in its current form who are the only ones winning? Its great to have passion for the game, for the racehorse and for the love of being around winners……how many winners are there? The tote pool is a clear indication. No fingers pointed, this is just my view and i’m only punting for 25 years

  15. Vickster Persadh says:

Hi Mr Ed.i note that Cousin Casey is in the ante post betting for the July.It was rumored this horse suffered a injury hence the last scratching. Any chance of establishing from the trainer if CC is recovered and on his mission to the July.i believe minus the new kids on the block,as an older horse he is a huge runner..tx Ed.

    1. Editor says:

Hi Vickster – we confirmed with Sean Tarry a matter of weeks ago that Cousin Casey is still in the mix

  16. Neill De Bruyn says:

In terms of thinking out of the box I’m a bit of a lunatic at times.
Long story short, if you buy a ticket to the Dubai World Cup event, that ticket includes ‘free participation in the P6 projection competition’.
No idea how it works, my guess is something along the line of the HWB free to play challenge – forecast 6 winners, straight line.
How about a R50 TAB voucher when you purchase a ticket to the July? Exchangeable only at TAB, on-course, on July day (where else would you be anyway if you purchased an entry ticket). Valid only for the P6 and to be treated as cash, amount to be marked as R50 if that’s the total amount you’re spending.. Or if you punt more than R50, the voucher plus the additional amount to be proffered to the cashier.
With fractional betting in place there’s no need for any system enhancement, the R50 will be fully accounted for on your betting slip, no change due..
Ok, so punters not on course could theoretically lose out but hey a R50 boost is not exactly a huge advantage.
40000 spectators x R50 extra in the P6 pool = R2 mill + the regular carry over let’s go for a R20 mill pool on the day

  17. WILLIAM MILKOVITCH says:

Well stared Mr. Regnath – ” My point is the operator will never look to have a discussion with a panel to hear what is required because they to afraid of what their short comings are”

  18. Neill De Bruyn says:

Betting vouchers to be pre-numbered and verfied by the TAB system when produced.
Downloaded with the ticket you bought from Ticket Pro or who ever.

  19. Neill De Bruyn says:

Yes mr Ed, I noticed last week that the 4Racing app/website published the preliminary entries for what I think is called Champions day, end of the manth.
Cousin Casey has not been nominated for the Champions Challenge over 2000m, but for the Hawaii stakes over 1400m, where, if all turns out well, he will face Main Defender (at a 2 kg advantage nogal).
CC stablemate and recent winner Cosmic Speed also nominated, so we’ll have to wait and see.
