Winning is everything.

It should be important to know, though, in what company a winner raced, and how close the finish was.

So we made a points system to reflect that. It’s explained in detail below.

At the end of a season, Equus award winners should all be high up on the table!

Gr1 races (Open)

  • All runners start with 50 pts
  • Winners earns 50 bonus points (which gives 100 points)
  • Others have points deducted, rate of 10x beaten lengths (integer, down to zero, not negative) – meaning 5.0 lengths or more behind the winner scores zero

Only the first five finishers can score points.

Gr1 races (age or sex Restricted) – 35 base-points with 35 bonus for winner, rest as above (meaning 3.5 lengths or more behind the winner scores zero).

Gr2 races (Open)

  • All runners start with 25 pts
  • Winner earns 25 bonus points (which gives 50 points)
  • Others have points deducted, rate of 10x beaten lengths (integer, down to zero; not negative) – meaning 2.5 lengths or more behind the winner scores zero

Only the first five finishers can score points.

Gr2 races (age or sex Restricted) – 15 base-points with 15 bonus for winner, rest as above (meaning 1.5 lengths or more behind the winner scores zero).
