Snaith Draws First Blood

World Sports Betting Listed Summer Juvenile Stakes

Justin Snaith got his 2024 World Sports Betting Cape Town Met day at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth off to a flying start when the speedy Varsfontein-bred grey Roman Agent ran out a popular winner in sunny and windless conditions, of the R600 000 World Sports Betting Listed Summer Juvenile Stakes.

Roman Agent (Grant van Niekerk) stays on best to beat first-timer Winds Of Change (Muzi Yeni) in the opener (Pic – Candiese Lenferna)

Described as ‘an immature horse with a beautiful stride and tons of ability’ by winning rider Grant van Niekerk, Roman Agent shook off the eyecatching attention of Azzie first-timer Winds Of Change (16-1) to win readily in a time of 65,45 secs for the 1100m.

The 13-10 favourite Lion Rampart appeared to run green and missed out on the quartet. He was passed late by 75-1 Gqeberha visitor Golden Rule, who will be unbackable next time in a maiden in his hometown! Full marks to Kelly Mitchley and her team.

A Varsfontein bred son of Vercingetorix (Silvano), Roman Agent hails from the champion family of Goldkeeper daughter, Secret Of Victoria, who is 24 years old but still producing the hits.

A really handsome grey, Roman Agent took his stakes to R285 000 with his second win and a place from his 3 starts.

Enjoy the replay!

The Enchanting Currency Of Fate

It is eerie to think that there would have been no Siren’s Call, Sound Of Warning, or for that matter Call To Unite, had fate not decreed that Enchanted Cove follow her dam to South Africa, and that Peter de Beyer had the foresight to return Elusive Fort back home from the States as well!
