In the kingdom of the blind, the one-eyed man is king. So goes the saying and it has been quite a week in KZN with two one-eyed Australian-bred horses winning in the last two meetings.
Selecting a winning racehorse can sometimes be less of a science and a lot more about emotion. He may not yet be another JJ The Jet Plane, but the Surging River first-timer River’s End was chosen on just as much gut-feel.
It is eerie to think that there would have been no Siren’s Call, Sound Of Warning, or for that matter Call To Unite, had fate not decreed that Enchanted Cove follow her dam to South Africa, and that Peter de Beyer had the foresight to return Elusive Fort back home from the States as well!
