The Cape Sale took many of the best yearlings away from the National Sale. To keep the numbers up, some 200 yearlings who normally wouldn’t have made the grade appeared in the National sale catalogue. No wonder the numbers at Nationals were down on previous years. Yet when put in proper context, the major sales of 2011 make it the best year South Africa has ever had. Ever!
The 2011 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale’s average price was R244 301, down slightly from last year’s average of R324 557.
