First race on the Fairview Polytrack is under two months away
The installation of a Polytrack synthetic racetrack on the inside of the existing turf circuit at Fairview Racecourse in Port Elizabeth is set to begin within a few weeks and should take about eight months to complete.
The new Polytrack training surface at Randjesfontein was officially opened by Phumelela’s racing executive Patrick Davis and champion trainer Mike de Kock on Wednesday with the ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by around 100 people, including Larry Wainstein, chairman of the Racing Association which owns Randjesfontein, jockeys, the media and trainers from as far afield as Port Elizabeth.
Used on three of Britain’s four all-weather tracks, Polytrack surfaces will be installed at Randjesfontein and Fairview.
