Joao On The July

Comments from London

Is it not amazing that our Aussie brothers and sisters have a race that ‘stops the nation –  yep every single year The Melbourne Cup brings the nation to a standstill.

The International Racing Club’s Joao Da Mata writes in the Sporting Post Mailbag that we had a race that stopped the nation.

But sadly through the lack of initiative of the powers for the last few decades, the July is no longer the headliner it used to be.

Non Racing friends of mine quizzed about the Vodacom Durban July did not even know it was happening.

Makes no difference anyways, those that are reading this care about racing.

Those reading this that have the power to make a difference don’t listen to Keyboard warriors.

This is my analysis and prediction about the Vodacom Durban July.

I will however start off by saying my analysis will be based on the TOP 10 Finishers and then the TOP 4 (with prevailing good luck)

I know my comments might offend some , they are not meant to. It’s how I feel about the runners and funnily enough it’s this AMAZING thing we all possess called OPINION.

1: Rainbow Bridge (Top 10) – proper racehorse, iffy draw, stats against jockey age, master trainer, serious contender

Rainbow Bridge wins the Hollywoodbets Gr1 Gold Cup (Pic – Candiese Lenferna)

2: Johnny Hero – good luck

3: Shah Akbar – good luck

4: Expressfromtheus – good luck

5: Crown Towers– good luck

6: Rascallion(Top 10) Always dangerous as has a turn of foot and can run on, top stable.

7:Linebacker- (Top 10) – very decent 3 year old, trainer is special, jockey has more talent in his right toe than most, good draw, serious contender

8: Sovereign Spirit – good luck

9: Cirillo– really?

10: She’s A Keeper – (Top 10) sky’s the limit, still improving, champion jockey, too soon?

11: Belgarion (Top 10) Machine, top yard, top jockey, good draw, weight a concern but most of these cant win, huge runner

12:Nexus (Top 10) – big runner, top yard, could be running on at the death and into the money,

13: Running Brave – good luck

14: Got The Greenlight (Top 10) proper racehorse, well campaigned, will be tuned to the second, jockey have a remarkable season, draw would be a concern if the field had any strength in depth but with his turn of foot the weaker horses wont cause any issues.

15: Matterhorn (Top 10) Fairytale, jockey not for me, trainer certainly knows her craft, draw a concern,2022 certainty?

16: Do It Again (Top 10) One of the best I’ve ever seen, will be tuned to the second, stable elected by stable jockey.

17: Tristful – good luck

18: Kommetdieding ( Top 10) Nice story, good horse, jockey change a concern, draw a massive concern, looks like a horse that as a 4 year old will set SA tracks alight.

There you have it.

My top 4 after all the bumping, boring, hard luck stories , poor jockey decisions, pulled shoes, false starts and anything else we the punter blame for our selections losing are as follows and in order.

The 2021 Vodacom Durban July

  • 1: Got The Greenlight
  • 1: Do It Again
  • 3: Rainbow Bridge
  • 4: Linebacker
