Eight Races At Fairview Today

First off at 12h30

Today’s Fairview feature, the East Cape Paddock Stakes at Fairview is the second leg of the East Cape Fillies and Mares Challenge for 2019.

A total of R700 000 was set aside for this series of three races for fillies and mares and besides the total stake monies of R450 000 on offer, a Challenge bonus of R250 000 is offered to the winning connections, should their horse win all three legs.

The first leg, the R150 000 Listed East Cape Breeders Stakes was run over 1200m on the all weather on 28 June and was won by Justin Snaith’s Juniper Spring, who does not line up in the second leg today  – so the bonus is not up for winning this year.

The third leg is the R150 000 Listed Jockey Club Stakes to be run over 2000m on the Fairview turf on Friday 23 August.

The final leg is named in recognition of the fact that the Jockey Club – now the National Horseracing Authority – was founded in Port Elizabeth almost 137 years ago.

Today’s meeting comprises eight races and is off at  12h30.

The false rail is set at  4m off zero to the 1200mm increasing to 4m 5m to the 800m mark – with a 6.5m spur.
