121 New Horses For Mauritius

Some smart horses bolster island population

About two months before the launch of the new season, 121 new horses have been acquired by Mauritian owners.

Of these, 92 are already there, while the other 29 are awaiting quarantine in South Africa before being shipped to Mauritius.

Now in Mauritius – Gold Cup runner-up Made To Conquer (Pic – Candiese Lenferna)

Those belonging to the last 4 cargo batches of 2019 (September, October, November and December) have logically not yet started at the Champ de Mars.

The horses previously arrived, in May, July and August, have practically all already run here, except for Aegean Aire (May), Bound By Duty, Giant Cruise, New Abbey, Perpetual Flame, Time Is Gold, Var Express (July) and 15 of the 18 arrivals in August.

It should be noted that Monopolize, acquired by Allet and who arrived with us last September, died, and that several of these new ones changed stables between the date of their arrival and mid-January.

All told, Gujadhur has the largest number of new units on site (15) ahead of Hurchund (11) and Sewdyal (11).

Olmeca Black is the only new member of Perdrau currently in Mauritius, while J M Henry, Jones and Raj Ramdin Stables have 3 each.
